It is set out in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
1. The kinds of personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect and hold:
- contact details, such as your name, email address, and postal or delivery address;

- billing information processed on our behalf by third-party payment providers (we do not store full payment card details on our systems);
- application materials and résumés if you apply to work with us; and
- website usage information collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Where practicable, we collect personal information directly from you and only information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities (APP 3). We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health or biometric information) through our website.
2. How we collect personal information
We usually collect personal information directly from you when you:
- submit an enquiry, quotation request or order through our quote form or contact page;
- communicate with us by email or in person at trade counters, expos or site visits; or
- create or manage a trade account with us.
We may also collect information from third parties you deal with (such as freight companies or your nominated installer), from our service providers, and from publicly available sources, where it is unreasonable or impracticable to obtain it directly from you.
3. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information
We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information (APP 4, APP 5, APP 6) to:
- supply, deliver, warrant and support the security systems, alarms and surveillance equipment we sell;
- respond to enquiries and prepare quotations;
- process orders, payments, returns and warranties;
- manage our business relationships, accounts and records;
- improve our website, products and services; and
- meet our legal, tax, accounting and record-keeping obligations.
If you do not provide the personal information we request, we may be unable to supply products, process an order or respond to your enquiry.
4. Direct marketing
In line with APP 7, we may send you news, product updates and special offers where you have consented or would reasonably expect this. Every marketing email includes a functional opt-out mechanism, or you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing ceo@securitywarehouseaust.online. We do not sell or rent your personal information to marketers.
5. Disclosure of personal information
We may disclose personal information to third parties who help us operate our business, including:
- freight, courier and logistics providers who deliver your orders;
- payment gateway and merchant service providers;
- information technology, hosting, website analytics and email service providers;
- manufacturers and distributors who support warranties and product registration; and
- professional advisers, and government or law enforcement bodies where required or authorised by law.
Some of these service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure they comply with the APPs, including through contractual safeguards required by APP 8.
6. Security and retention of personal information
Under APP 11, we take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold against misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls, secure hosting, encrypted connections and limiting access to staff who need it. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes outlined above, including the retention periods required by Australian tax and record-keeping laws (typically up to seven years for financial records), after which it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will assess it promptly and, where required, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
7. Access to and correction of your personal information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you (APP 12) and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading (APP 13). We will respond to your request within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days, and there is generally no charge for making a request. In some circumstances we may refuse access where permitted by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth); if so, we will explain why and note your request.
8. Cookies and website analytics
